HyNEAT - Hydrogen-powered aviation
Project Description:
HyNEAT, short for Hydrogen Supply Networks' Evolution for Air Transport, is an interdisciplinary BMBF collaborative project.
In the project, concepts for global hydrogen supply infrastructures for use in H2-powered aircraft are being developed. The aim is to identify long-term perspectives and possible transition paths in line with a global energy transition and to derive recommendations for action for politics and industry. Three levels of consideration are investigated, from global H2 potentials for aviation, the European energy system with the associated scope as in countries in Africa and the Middle East, to the local implementation description for an archetypal airport. In our subproject we evaluate the hydrogen components and systems of the supply chain by means of Life Cycle Assessment.
